Rage has never accomplished anything outside of lining their own pockets.

Their naked stunt stopped censorship, put an end to several wars, stopped AIDS from spreading, and saved a cat from being hit by a car:
 @ RATM and their fans!
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE ARE THE MACHINE
by Dr. Zoltan Øbelisk
Facts:
1.) Rage Against The Machine are on the same major label as Creed, Duran Duran, and Mandy Moore. They are products made of the earth's resources just like the rest of them. Click here to purchase a RATM cultural artifact printed on murdered trees, called "Evil Empire" at Wal-Mart: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product. ... id=1444101
2.) Rage Against The Machine is a pre-fabricated, pseudo-rebellious, corporate marketing scam, designed to capitalize on the deep psychological need for teenage rebellion. They are not political extremists and are simply incorporating images from outside sources. They do not blow anything up. They do not light themselves on fire. They do not place themselves in any danger. They are NOT rebels; they are merely 2-dimensional symbols of rebellion, as much as George W. Bush is a two-dimensional symbol of leadership. It's all for pretend.
3.) Zach De La Rocha's solo efforts were ineffective without simplistic, monophonic funk metal riffs backing it.
4.) Rage Against The Machine are nothing but actors, like Denzel Washington pretending to be Malcolm X for a movie.
5.) Rage Against The Machine are posable action figures on stage, donning costumes and theatrics and should not be taken any more seriously than the cartoon characters in Gwar. It's just for show.
6.) 3/4 of Rage Against The Machine stopped Raging Against The Machine for the past 6 years and released dumbed-down, mediocre, falling-asleep, aging top-40 radio rock music called Audioslave. They should have called the band, "Back To Our Comfy Dayjobs In A Cover Band."
7.) Rage Against The Machine, who claim to be leftists or socialists or anarchists or whatever trendy label you want to use, are reuniting for a one-time concert at Coachella and will be paid fees and royalties in the millions of dollars. Tickets for the event are $250 and have already sold out.
8.) Rage Against The Machine claim that this one reunion concert in the desert will destroy the Bush Administration.
9.) Rage Against The Machine, rather than going on stage naked at Lollapalooza and standing there with duct tape over their mouths and PMRC painted on their chests, should simply post their bank statements and Quickbooks files on their website for fans to download. I challenge you, RATM. Prove to your fans that you are NOT the machine that you pretend to rage against. Oops!
10.) Rage Against The Machine ARE The Machine.

You can't know how much RATM have influenced (or not) people's choices in their individual lives.
I don't see why it should. All these flaccid arguments about how, well, they got people thinking about this and that and blah blah blah, we can't measure it, it's BULLSHIT. Rage peaked in popularity a decade ago, the vast bulk of their fans are in their mid to late 20s by now. And what has that generation EVER done? Other than watch the Daily Show, put "Buck Fush" bumper stickers on their cars, and not vote?erutlucorgga";p="849911 wrote:1. It is argued that the punk movement changed people's perceptions of the world: does this translate into actions? I don't see why it shouldn't.
