I'm still optimistic, actually.
In the face of the fake image, what they'd be expected to do is deny.
And Patton working with SC3 on some French cover song is a massive step.
Plenty of bands have denied whatever it is right up to the minute before (Iommi on Sabbath is a recent example: he basically trashed some poor leaking journalist weeks before the "official" announcement was made).
