I don't think it's "nice" per se. I mean, there's a horrible monster in it MASQUErading as a human.

Hellboy 2 was really bad.

Hellboy 2 was really bad.
Quantum of Solace was better than I was told it was. In fact it was better than Casino Royale. It was nice to see the formula broken. I liked the fact that the typical staged pyrotechnical ending was slightly refrained and went on (ala Her Majesty's Secret Service) to end the film properly.
Mamma Mia terrified me. My girlfriend also thought it was shit and it confirmed to the pair of us that the majority of women, particularly those who liked this shit and Sex in the City need a swift hard kick to the cunt. These two films have harmed the suffragette movement. Revoke voting privileges post-haste.
Pineapple Express. A very crap start but it was so dumb I couldn't stay mad at it for long. While it is not quite Harold and Kumar (not as stupid, not as funny), it was so naive and funny that I have to say I enjoyed it.
Elf. Still the best Christmas film ever. And Scrooged is still an average film.
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. This was funny when I was a kid. Not so much now. For shame :(
Dark Knight. Very good in parts. Heath Ledger's was talked abpout everywhere, but his acting wasn't particularly good or poor. It's just because the junkie prick died. The action sequences were badly directed, the dialogue was good, framing was often piss poor and the chase sequence (Joker in the truck, Batman and his bike) was absolutely shit and bored me to tears. I have to say that even though this had a certain depth not enjoyed by many comic book films it was still rather prosaic and dare I say it was often boring. I preferred Iron Man. It had that spark. Fuck all this shit about depth, it's a comic book film and Dark Knight although very good was no fucking Paris, Tejas.
Wanted. Average flick, funny and entertaining, hope I never have to watch it again.
Kung Fu Panda. Was surprised at this. It was funny and pretty enjoyable.
Incredible Hulk. This was pretty good, but not as good as the big two comic-book adaptions this year.
Step Brothers. Another surprise. I indulged myself with this, my belly ached from laughing so hard. I love dumb as fuck films...
...X-Files 2 - but not this dumb.
Transporter 3. Quite what I was expecting is nobody's guess. It was quite crap though.
Righteous Kill. It was very predictable, but I still enjoyed it. An above average thriller with Al Pacino in it and I still liked it.
Space Chimps was utter shit.

I have to say, once that car chase happened I was sold on this one.

please please PLEASE see WALL-E

Wall-E was so good.

It's no Paris, Tejas either (face it, what is?) but definitely one of the best movies I saw in '08. It loses its way a tad when the humans come in, but everything up to that point is stunning.

Not many kids films would aspire for depth akin to that, but I've read that Wall-E does have a passing resemblance. Long scenes with no dialogue....lonely man (robot) etc...

I'm trying too hard now.

Just come back from seeing Slumdog Millionaire - it's an absolute gem. I demand you all go and see it immediately.
:|

Don't be put off by the 'romantic drama' label - it has everything (except Chuck Norris) and doesn't get too cheesy. Loads of laughs, plenty of violence and a lovely touch during the final credits. Best movie I've seen in ages.

Mr John Vista";p="990227 wrote: Burn is amusing, in a "these people are dumb, look what they are doing lol" kind of way. Another expose of the ludicrous lengths people will go to to get what they want in life. Frances McDormand is the ying to her Fargo charactor's yang, Brad Pitt is a moron, Malkovich and Swinton are completely unlikeable, Richard Jenkins is underused but brilliant, Clooney chews everyone else off the screen with his womaniser/paranoiac and gets the best scenes. Oh and the secret service guys are funny too. Enjoyable also, with all the comedy coming from the vileness of the charactors.
Agree with everything - especially about Richard Jenkins.
Clooney and McDormand change character (a relief), and the exchanges between the CIA guys are two of the funniest scenes in the movie.

Loved the "You thought it was a Schwinn?!"
And the line the PI comes out with when Clooney questions him about the name of the company.
I really liked this. Even the ending. It was certainly -not- the same "trick" as No Country for Old Men, and to think so is to not pay attention to film. The P.I.'s line is great, Mary, you're right. Also, Brad Pitt's "Shit yeah!" made me crack up. Also, when Brad Pitt tries to be a spy is downright brilliant. Pretty much any time he's on camera, I was laughing.

Now, what did we learn.

not as utterly shitty as "fly me to the moon" that was even worse , if you could imagine such a thing .

there is a smart fly , his name is I.Q. he wears glasses !
there is a fat fly he is "funny" .
the other fly had no distinguishing characteristics , just like you .
they go to the moon and save the day .
the russian flys are BAD !

wait thats actually alot more entertaining than the movie .
